One for the offshore enthusiasts, a brand-new SALTIGA range of rods dedicated to jigging and bottom fishing – 25 SALTIGA J.
It’s been a long time since Daiwa released a standalone jigging-specific SALTIGA series and the wait has been worth it, with a full redesign from the ground up, featuring new technology and features like the brand-new POWER HOLD reel seat.
It all starts with the blank, and for the first time in a series like this, Daiwa has implemented SVF Nanoplus carbon. This higher-grade carbon not only makes the rods incredibly lightweight, but those same properties enhance the recovery of the blank. Recovery is the time it takes for the blank to return to straight from being bent or deflected. This recovery is important for jigging rods to impart the correct action to jigs with minimal effort from the angler.
The most striking feature of the new SALTIGA J series is the new POWER HOLD reel seat which features on the five spinning models. Daiwa’s POWER HOLD reel seat is a new take on what has been a largely neglected part of most heavier saltwater fishing rods. A replacement for the standard DPS reel seat seen on almost every rod, POWER HOLD offers enhanced comfort, less hand-fatigue and a sturdy grip onto your chosen reel. The unique enlarged ‘hoods’ almost totally encase the reel foot, leaving no exposed threads or hoods for your hands and fingers to contact. This enhances the comfort and reduces hand fatigue especially when employing such high-impact fishing techniques like high-speed mechanical jigging. In order to equip or remove your reel, the POWER HOLD reel seat bottom hood must be slid down and turned 90 degrees to either side to give enough room to slip in the reel foot.
SALTIGA J series rods are equipped with FUJI Titanium framed SiC guides, the reduced weight of titanium compared to stainless steel further reduces the total weight, more-importantly increasing the recovery of the blank to aid in lure action.
FUJI GRC gimbal butt caps also feature to allow anglers to use the rods with their favourite gimbal belt.
Daiwa’s newly released ‘Complete Control’ grip concept also features on the foregrip, the unique small molded trigger into the leading edge of the foregrip offers a sure hold for your index finger to locate, especially under tight drags to prevent your hand from slipping down the rod.
Featuring five spinning models and three overhead models in the range, 25 SALTIGA J will be your go-to choice for a new bottom fishing or jigging rod. Available in a range of powers from PE2-4 through to deep-sea monster taming PE6-8 models and featuring some throwback actions which keen Daiwa enthusiasts should recognise like Combi Jerk and Hiramasa 63 actions. There is sure to be a SALTIGA J to suit your chosen style of heavy saltwater fishing.
